  A HOME FUELED BY COMPASSION

Surrounded by the beautiful mountains and rich culture of Northern Thailand is a very special home which exists to follow Jesus' example in showing compassion to those around Him.

The Chiang Dao Compassion Home is now home to approximately 40 children; some of which are orphaned, some abandoned, and some born into families that are unable to care for them. The home was founded in August, 2002. It began with 20 school aged children, and has since doubled in size. At the home, the children's physical and spiritual needs are met. They know a security they have never known and each one is given the priceless gift of knowing about Jesus.

HOW DOES THE COMPASSION HOME OPERATE?

Decha and his wife Pat are the administrators of the Compassion home. They have a heart to reach out to and share the love of Jesus with these children. Decha and Pat have served at the Compassion Home since it began in 2002.

All the children at the Compassion Home attend public school. They leave the Compassion Home for school at about 7:00 AM. They go to school in a songtheew (a covered pickup with two bench seats in the back). They are picked up from school in the evening at about 4:00. The children all have chores that they need to do each day. Some days it is feeding the chickens or chopping banana plants for the pigs. Other days it might be hoeing in the garden or making brooms out of palm fonds. Evenings are usually spent showering, having devotions and doing homework. Bedtime is 8:30 for the younger ones because the 5:15 AM rising time comes so quickly each morning!
Sunday and Wednesday evenings everyone gathers in the chapel for worship. The children take an active part in the worship services. Some play guitar and drums and others lead in the singing.

HOW IS THE COMPASSION HOME SUPPORTED?

The Compassion Home is supported by people like you who believe that the work of the Compassion Home will make an eternal impact on the lives of these kids. GTO has a sponsorship program set up where a monthly payment can be sent to help cover the costs of the children's schooling and room and board. Most of the children come from very poor backgrounds and their parents or guardians either do not care enough about their children to send them through school or they simply do not have the funds to send them.
Each year some of our students graduate from high school and new children come to take their place. Each year we need new sponsors who want to support the work of the Compassion Home. Consider sponsoring one of our children so it will be possible for them to get a good education and most importantly, for them to have the opportunity to hear about and experience the love of Jesus.
